  2. I set up a last-minute video shoot with Eleanor Friedberger for Into The Woods tonight while she’s in town to play Mississippi Studios. We only had one hour but Hannah, Tom, Mike, and I pulled it together like pros and made it happen. Very special thanks to the ladies of Flutter (3948 N Mississippi Ave) for staying at work late so we could use their space to film. This one’s gonna be pretty.

  3. It’s here. “Fucking James Franco” is a collection of erotic fiction engaging the idea of the titular act. My contribution is the satirical tale of a vapid and obsessive Franco-phile who finally beds her objet d’amour, as told through her real-time Twitter feed.

The choice to use the language and structure of Twitter as a narrative device to tell the story of James-Franco-as-conquest seemed appropriate after Franco declared last year (via tweet, before deleting his account so he could have more privacy) that “Social media is dead.” But apart from its silliness, the piece is intended as a critique of social-media culture and its power to disconnect us from the very moments we claim to want to “share.” The separate processes of experience and reflection are complimentary in tandem, but when combined at too close an interval we risk diminishing the capacity for sensual engagement within our private present, and are therefore left with less potent material to fuel our intellectual and philosophical engagement with the world.

“Fucking James Franco” is edited by Sean Joseph Patrick Carney, published by Social Malpractice Publishing, and designed and printed by Container Corps. You can buy it from either of their websites. The dust jacket is suede-like “touch paper” and the cover is metallic/reflective with an embossed image of Mr. Franco kissing himself in a mirror.

  4. Today I shot the first of 12 video vignettes for AgesandAges. The band will be releasing one cover song per month for the next year and they asked me to create some YouTube content to go along with them. Here’s a test shot of Johanna before filming.
